Our Faculty

Principal and Kindergarten
Mrs. Corey Maloney

I have been at St. Mary's since 2000 and principal since 2005. Our Kindergarten classroom is filled with many valuable learning opportunities throughout the curriculum. Our small class sizes allow the children to receive one-on-one instruction throughout the school day.

Before coming here, I was a preschool teacher for eight years at a private preschool in the Clinton area.
I attended Fitchburg State College where I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education. Since graduating, I have attended a variety of workshops and seminars to enhance my teaching performance.

As a teacher, my philosophy is to provide my students with a loving and learning atmosphere where each child can achieve success academically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Mrs. Christa Marino

I have been a teacher at St. Mary since 1990, with a short absence between 2001-2005, at which time I had the opportunity to substitute teach at the school for grades k-8. I hold a degree in Early Childhood Education. I was very fortunate to have the opportunity for my daughter to attend 10 years of school here at St. Mary's, with me by her side, and my son now attends the school. I'm excited to be back and love teaching at St. Mary's.

Mrs. Lauren Canale

I have been at St. Mary's since 2007. I am the mother of two girls, Karsyn and Quinlyn. I started out working in the kitchen here, but made the jump to pre-school when the position became available. I am planning on returning to school to further my studies in early childhood development when my youngest, Karsyn, is in school full-time. I am the coach of Quinlyn's Lassie League softball team and love to bike and play tennis in my spare time!

Grades 1 and 2
Mrs. Nancy Fogel

I have been teaching first grade at St. Mary Elementary School since 2003.
This year I am teaching the first and second grade multi-age class. In our classroom a nurturing environment is created where a quality education is provided. Students learn strategies and skills in all subject areas to form a firm foundation for future learning. Daily hands on activities, centers, writer's workshops, independent projects help to enhance the student's knowledge of themselves and the world around them. Our small class size provides daily individualized instruction and attention. The multi age setting gives the student the opportunity for flexible learning as children learn at different rates. We daily promote the formation of values that reflect a Christian way of life. I love to watch them shine each day.

Grades 3 and 4
Mrs. Jaime Shahood

I have been at St. Mary Elementary since 1999. I graduated cum laude from Bridgewater State College with a double major in Communication Studies and Elementary Education. I played an active role in both honor societies within my majors. My first year teaching was at the Hudson Middle School as a Special Needs teacher, a position in which I was hand picked. The following year I was hired at St. Mary Elementary School, and truly feel blessed to be in such a nurturing, caring community.

Third and fourth grades are such busy years! Each day the children come into the classroom excited and eager to learn. Math tends to be a favorite because many of our lessons involve the use of manipulatives. Using them allows the students to begin the learning process at a concrete level, which helps to ensure mastery of the lesson.

The reading curriculum is a challenging, yet meaningful one, having students do lots of reading, writing, discussing, and working on comprehension skills. The reading curriculum coincides with the language arts so well, that most times the language arts lesson can be tied into a reading lesson. Students enjoy our Writing Workshop time, and really thrive.

Religion, social studies, science, phonics, and handwriting also keep us busy throughout our day. The 3/4 grade multi-age class is a group of differentiated learners.

Grades 5 and 6
Ms. Shannon Lecuyer

I have been at St. Mary's since 2007. I am a graduate of Roger Williams University with a double major in elementary education and psychology. I have my student teaching experience in a first grade public classroom in New Bedford, Massachusetts. This was a fantastic experience, but I do feel lucky to have found a small, Catholic school such as St. Mary's.

The fifth and sixth grade years are ones for maturing and preparing for middle school and high school. We perform many hands-on activities as well as group work. Students are always moving around the classroom learning something new while helping their fellow classmates in the process. I love to watch as the students mature into young adults and to see their faces when they achieve something they once thought impossible.
